WIND STATS

Lake Garda is a lake set about by mountains that stretches down to the Padana plains. The beauty of the lake is not only the magestic panaromic views but also the thermal winds – Pelèr and the Ora , which creates the perfect playground for watersport enthusiasts and will keep you busy every day.

The Ora arrives at the end of the morning, between 11:00 and 13:00, and blows until sunset. It is a very regular wind, stronger during spring and early summer. To form decisely it requires a strong solar radiation on the water and on the mountain ranges north of Garda. Due to the Venturi effect caused by the mountains that flank the north of the lake the Ora eventually increaes in strength.

The Pelèr is regular in the summer months and during autumn; it begins to blow at night and normally lasts until it subsides at the end of the morning. When it is particularly strong it can last two or three hours longer and exceed 5-6 Beaufort in intensity.
